Deviant Nation Skin Resurrected?

As you may remember, the first set of Deviant Nation skins was retired to make room for a new series.  Since we've rebuilt, space is less of an issue than it was before.  These skins were never marketed as Limited Edition & were retired with the sole purpose of making space for new product.

Now that they're gone, I am frequently asked where to get them.  Many of the people looking for them were not created before these were retired and see other designers wearing them in their ads, etc.  I do not privately sell discontinued merchandise and am leery of resurrecting retired lines lest I be lynched for some sort of perceived deception. So I am currently turning these people away or suggesting a similar skin that's currently for sale.

If the skins are revived, they will go back to their original price (they were marked 50% off for a limited time before being retired.)  I would like to revive them and don't see any reason not to from a designer's perspective, but I'd like some feedback from customers since this sort of thing seems to have become a hot topic, or at least a warm one.

I've added a poll for a simple vote on the side of the blog. Please make your opinion known, and I welcome commentary if you have any feelings on this matter. Especially if you vote "No". I'd like to know why.

Summer Skins

Summer is here at last, at least in the northern hemisphere.  That means it's time for fresh faces and fresh Vogue Skins at Celestial Studios.

This release consists of four new makeup options for the Vogue line of skins. These are some of the lightest makeup options I've done.  The last thing you want in the heat is your makeup sliding down your face. Since it's always summer in the majority of Second Life, hopefully you'll get a lot of use out of these even when your real weather has shifted to the wrong side of the freezing point.

All Vogue skins at Celestial Studios come with a freckled and non-freckled option.  This release also includes a third "Light Freckled" version which has a light sprinkle of freckles across the nose, but none on the body. Just a small amount like what you may pick up after a few days in the sun.

Preview photos are shown in the middle tone "Cashmere" but are, as always, available in all five Vogue tones. Stop by Celestial Studios to try on some demos.  Sorry, demos are available in the non-freckled versions only. Click any photo to view full size.

Summer 1:  An almost totally bare face with just a hint of shine on the lips and a tiny trace of neutral/brown eyeliner.

Summer 2: Just a trace of barely there gloss, a slight flush and a hint of eyeliner.

Summer 3: Fresh pink gloss, flushed cheeks and lightly highlighted eyes.

Summer 4:  Sassy pink gloss, flushed cheeks and  flirty highlighted eyes.  For your nights out after a day at the beach.

Summer skins are "Special Edition", which means they'll be available until the fall line is out and then semi retired until all four seasons have cycled and then they'll be brought back as a seasonal pack.

This means that the spring edition skins are about to retire until winter. I'll leave them out for one more week, so if you've been meaning to grab those, be sure to do it before June 29th.

Deviant Nation Series 2

Sixteen all new Deviant Nation Vogue skins have arrived. These are available exclusively at Last Call.  Like the previous collection, these skins are bit edgier and more dramatic than the line I carry at my Celestial City store. Again, Ginny had a hand in the creative concept for these. We drew a lot of inspiration from the dramatic eyeliner on the runway this season.  These have been polished up and made wearable every day. Or at least every night.

So without further ado, here is the new collection of Deviant Nation skins.

Last Call for Deviant Nation Skins

I forgot to blog this last week, so if you have been under a rock or otherwise missed it.  My first series of Deviant Nation skins are currently on sale for 50% off at Last Call.  The sale ends Wednesday, June 6th at 8pm SLT.  If you want to grab any of these, this is your last chance.  They will be discontinued at that time on Wednesday.

Spring Things

First, a set of 4 springy makeups for the Vogue Skins.  These are sheer and colorful and go beautifully with almost any spring pastel pallette.  Even the red has a sheer glossy finish, inspired by my favorite Vincent Longo Cherry lipstain.

EDIT: I forgot to mention these skins are also available next to the Spring Enchantress display at Last Call in the Dazzle sim.  They were not made specifically to go with that release, but they do look great with it!

To go with the skins (or with anything!) are a set of eyes with lighter iris colors. 

I hadn't made eyes in awhile, and I do love making them. I don't know why.  I think they're such an easy way to totally change your appearance.

Anyway, I'm releasing the Spring skins as "Special Edition", which in this case means that they will be available for a few months and then replaced with Summer skins, but I plan to bring them back into the full time collection when all four seasons are complete as a "Seasonal" pack.

Passport Skins Return

Passport skins were retired at the end of 2006, but I've received a number of requests from faithful Passport wearers to bring them back so they can complete their collection.  So they're out for a limited time in Celestial City.  I'm afraid when I discontinued them last year, I meant it, and purged all marketing media associated with them (preview photos, vendor textures, etc). So this means there are no pictures of the makeups included for this go round. 

I rereleased them primarily so those who already wear the skins and have a pretty good idea what they look like will be able to get the rest of them before they're retired forever. I'll leave them for sale for a minimum of 30 days.  If you're interested in them, please grab them now as next time I retire them, I'll purge the skins themselves and they will not be available for another release.

Skin packs include every Passport skin in each tone for a hugely discounted price. I've included the brown eyebrow options in the same box with the black, but I'm not charging extra for them.  Each skin pack contains a minimum of 32 skins, and the tones with brown eyebrows available include an additional 25 skins with the brown hair option for a total of 52 skins included in those packs. Priced at 3200L for the whole shebang.  I will not be selling singles of the skins at this time, I priced them so even though Passport wearers may be getting some duplicates of skins they already own, the price is so low for all that's included, it should still be cost effective.

Deviant Nation

A new line of beauty products exclusively at Last Call by DHC.

Inspired by runway looks and created to complement the runway fashions and accessories by Ginny Talamsca and Lyra Muse of the new Last Call by Dazzle Haute Couture, I'm happy to announce the launch of a new line of skins and beauty products, Deviant Nation.

This line consists of 16 all new makeup options for the Vogue skins:

Deviant - Glossy lips and streaky eyes. It wasn't tears that made this mascara run.  A sprinkling of glitter accentuates this edgy eye style.

Drama Queen - Bright and slick multitonal eyemakeup paired with glossy lips.  This is a "liquid eyeshadow" look that works great with the bright colors ever present in the new Last Call clothing collection.

Ether - Standout eyes, pouty lips and rosy, rosy cheeks. This is a very versatile look that pairs just as well whether you're in black tie or bluejeans.

Last Call - Inspired by Ginny's love (or obsessive need) of the smokiest of eyes and the palest of glossy lips.  These are super-pigmented on the eye and perfectly nude on the mouth.

Vogue wearers, take note!  Deviant Nation skins do not come with a second freckled version.

In addition to the skins, look for a kiosk in the lobby with fun and funky beauty accessories.  There are 20 new manicures in tons of different styles. Plain, french, decorated.  There's a little bit of everything.  Some of my favorites:

And just for fun, try adding these "Stick On" prim attachments.  I won't lie, these were inspired by my 5 year old daughter's stick-on earrings after she stuck them all over her face.  But HOPEFULLY these look a little better than that. :)) 

There are three different locations:  on the cheeks, inner eyes and forehead.  Each piece has its own attachment point (mouth, chin, ear) so you can mix and match colors and shapes to make your own look.

Vogue Goes Brazilian

Brazilian wax, now totally pain free!  These are "tattoos", worn on the underpants layer to cover the pubic hair on the skin for those who prefer that look.  These will not work on any other skins, except to give you a weird blob of skintone above your crotch.  If that's your thing, go for it.  Only 50L. :)

Vogue Skins are out, Celestial Studios Reopened

The Skins

First things first:  a lot of credit goes to my wonderful beta testers that tried these on in their rough and not yet ready stage a few months back.  I got so much feedback that really helped develop and refine the skins in general.  I also got some great ideas for the moddability and versatility of the skins based directly on what they had to say.  So, what I'm trying to say is THANK YOU, BETA TESTERS!  Or, if you hate the skins, talk to them. :P

On to the details:  Vogue skins are currently available in 5 skintones.  (Shown front and back in full light and full shadow above.)  Goth and black skins will be added at a later date, with special consideration given to makeup and face shading to better suit them.

These skins come with the largest first release offering on a skin line that I've ever done. 64 makeups on each skintone.  The makeups are broken up into 4 theme-based packs of 16.  Bright eyes, bright lips, muted eyes, muted lips.  And then again broken into  4 styles and 4 colors.  For the first time, you can choose to buy a single, a STYLE pack, or a COLOR pack.  This is better explained on the info notecard in the shop.  Here are the makeups shown on the middle tone, "Cashmere":

Skins also have moddable eyebrow/pubic hair and lip color via the skintone and lipstick sliders.  and as an added bonus, and you can either thank or hate Willow Zander for this, because it's totally her fault, each skin includes a free FRECKLED version.

The Store

You may notice the store is a bit on the barren side.  I'm discontinuing quite a few older items, so it will be filled back up eventually.  Coming soon, there will be a newbie section as well with clothing and skin items in newbie friendly (0L) prices for those under 60 days old, and very low prices for anyone older than that.  I can also tell you there is a mega Lulu release in the works, I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I can tell you that you don't want as many socks as I made.  It's almost guaranteed. :P

Canimal is now in her own sim across the way, and ETD is also now within walking distance.  I'm also very excited to welcome Vee Grace and her store Oxygen Designs, back to Celestial City.  You may see her store out there, but it's not quite ready to open yet today.

I'm having fun in SL & PS, so I thought I'd post a little teaser on the new skins.  I love this pic even though I couldn't get the angle quite right. Hopefully it is PG enough.  More info on the skins to come soon. :)
